Daniel P. Riley, 62, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Sunday April 15, 2012 at his Lowell residence after battling a long illness.
Born in Lowell on December 30, 1949, he was a son of the late Thomas and Helen (Hodge) Riley.
During the Vietnam War, Dan was enlisted in the United States Army and was the recipient of many medals of honor.
Dan worked at Hanscom Air Force Base for more than fifteen years before retiring. He was an avid sports fan, particularly following the Red Sox and Patriots.
Survivors include a son, Daniel B. Riley of Lowell; two daughters, Cassandra A. Cavanaugh of Amherst, NH, Christina A. Pagach of Lowell; three grandchildren, Brittany Pagach, Athena Balakin and Hannah Balakin; four brothers, Brian Riley and his fiancée, Jeannie Ayer of St. Johnsbury, VT, Thomas Riley, Jr. and his wife, Joanne of Lawrence, William Riley and his wife, Susan of Port St. Lucie, FL, Charles Riley and his wife, Elizabeth of Pelham, NH; three sisters, Kathy Comtois and her husband, Maurice of Dracut, Emily Edwards of Dracut, Mary Courtimarche and her husband, Richard of Lowell; a special friend, Margelie Baybek and her family; many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of the late Patricia A. (Camara) Riley and brother of the late Theresa Sloan and Maureen Methot.
