Daniel R. McGonagle

LOWELL – Daniel R. McGonagle, 64, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 11, 2014 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Laferriere) McGonagle with whom he celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on May 26.
Born in Malden on June 1, 1950, he was a son of the late Paul L. and Theresa C. (Cadiero) McGonagle.
Mr. McGonagle moved to Tewksbury at a young age where he received his education graduating from Tewksbury High School, Class of 1969.
He retired from Spring Manufacturing in Tewksbury where he was employed as a sheet metal machinist.
Dan coached Pop Warner Football for many years in Dracut and Chelmsford. He was also a statistician for the Greater Lowell Technical High School football team.
He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling where he was a member of the Monday Night Mixers and Our Gang leagues at Brunswick Bowling Alleys, where he had bowled for 51 years.
For 29 years Dan enjoyed camping with his family at the Hidden Valley Campground in Derry, NH where he and his wife operated Donna's Place Variety Store in the early 90's.
In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter, Noelle (McGonagle) Grigg and her husband Brian of Lowell; a son, Shawn McGonagle of Lowell; two sisters, Kathleen Murphy of No. Chelmsford and Rosemary Consaul and her husband Bruce of Bartlett, NH; a brother, Denis McGonagle and his wife Mary (Bucknell) of Billerica; his aunt and Godmother, Mary Sullivan of Melrose; an uncle, Charles Cadiero of Malden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Francis R. and Kathleen (Winn) Laferriere, Jr. of Hampstead, NH, Nancy (Laferriere) and Alan Kapinos of MD, Gail Ann Laferriere of Lowell and Daniel and Diane (Leedburg) Laferriere of Tyngsboro; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand nephews and dear friends. He was the brother-in-law of the late Brian Murphy.
