Daniel R Atencio

Daniel R. Atencio, of Dracut, MA, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2018, at the age of 57 years. He was the beloved husband of Doris Marquis with whom he would have celebrated 13 years of marriage this Fall. He is also survived by his only son, Derek R. Johnson of Dracut.

Danny was born in Lowell, MA, on February 23, 1960, the son of the late Trinidad J. and Rolande L. (Marcil) Atencio. He grew up in Lowell on Chapel Street and attended Lowell High School where he excelled in wrestling. He did all sorts of masonry/brick work as owner of Atencio Masonry.

Dan loved all Boston sports teams and enjoyed spending time with his son Derek, his pride and joy. He also enjoyed traveling, barbequing, playing the guitar, family parties, fishing, and spending time with his many friends.

Besides being a loving devoted husband to his wife Doris and father to Derek, he was also stepfather to Jason, Mark, Mike and the late Derick Marquis. He will be missed by his six sisters and two surviving brothers: Lorraine Digman of  Cold Springs, NY, Gloria Atencio of Dunbarton, NH, Dolores Pinard of Claremont, NH, Joyce Brill of Virginia Beach, VA, Trinidad Jr. of Shirley, MA, Barbara Noel of Warwick, MA, Deborah Jarry of Hudson, NH and Stephen Atencio of Apex , NC.

He also leaves his beloved dog and best friend Dusty. He is also survived by Cindy Johnson, mother of his son Derek, and also many nieces, nephews, cousins in New England and New Mexico. At his request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
