LOWELL – Constance M. (Garcia) Makiej, 91, a longtime resident of the Christian Hill neighborhood in the Centralville section of Lowell, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at a local health care facility. She was the wife of the late John B. Makiej.
Born in Lowell on June 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Arsenia (Crabal) Garcia.
Mrs. Makiej was a communicant of St. Michael Church.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a clerk for the former Jordan Marsh Company of Lowell.
She is survived by a son, Richard J. Makiej and his wife Linda J. of Lowell; a brother, Anthony Garcia of Lowell; four grandchildren, Russell Makiej and his wife Glenna of Lowell, Cheryl Ann McCarthy and her husband Scott of Tyngsboro, David Makiej of Lowell and Craig Makiej of Salem, NH; seven great grandchildren, Chris, Rachel, Nathan, Maya, Colby, Kylie and Coree; also several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Francis, Manual, Pauline, Mary and Elsie.
