Constance J. Guilbeault, 73, a lifelong Lowell resident died Saturday November 5, 2011 at Lowell General Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Born in Lowell on August 9, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Irene M. (Simoneau) Guilbeault.
Connie attended St. Joseph High School. She went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Rivier College and then a Masters Degree in Education from the former Lowell State Teachers college, with minor concentrations in religion and cooking. She later returned to St. Joseph High School to work as a driver's education instructor.
From 1955 until 1994, when she took leave to care for her parents, Connie was a nun with the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa.
She loved to travel, especially on cruises, with her siblings. She was a three star mariner with Holland American Cruise Lines. Connie was a world traveler, having gone as far east as Netherlands, as far north as Antarctica, to the southernmost part of the Caribbean Islands and west to the Panama Canal. Throughout her travels, she has been inspirational to others with handicap, like herself, and shown how illness should not prevent those from experiencing travel and enjoying life.
She has been a faithful and devoted Bruins fan, having been a season ticket holder for the past eight years. Connie will always be remembered for her constant joking, laughing and loving all things and people in her life.
Survivors include three brothers, Donald Guilbeault and his wife, Ellen of Pelham, NH, Richard Guilbeault of Lowell, with whom she resided, Robert Guilbeault and his wife, Mary of Dracut; three sisters and caregivers, Georgette Guilbeault of Dracut and twin sisters, with whom she also resided, Suzanne and Jeannine Guilbeault of Lowell. She also leaves her dear friends, Linda Dupras of Lowell, Barbara Curran of Maine, Sr. Aline, SCO of Ottawa and David Guilbeault of Marblehead; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
