Constance M. Desjardins

LOWELL - Constance M. "Connie" (Crowley) Desjardins, 77, a long time resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond G. Desjardins.
Born in Lowell on September 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Jeanne H. (Daigle) Crowley.
She was a graduate of St. Michael's Elementary School and Lowell High School Class of 1950. She then was educated in Boston University where she earned her Associates Degree in General Education. She continued her studies at the State Teachers' College of Lowell, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1954.
Mrs. Desjardins began her teaching career in the Bedford School System as a grade two Teacher from 1954-1957. From 1957 until 1967 she was employed for the Town of Dracut, first as a grade two Teacher at the Greenmont Avenue School, then from 1967 until 1985 as a Teaching - Principal at the Parker Avenue School and from 1986 until her retirement in 1990 as the Principal of the Parker Avenue School. As a teacher and principal she was dedicated to the needs of both students and faculty. She earned everyone's respect and loyalty.
She was a long time communicant of St. Michael Church.
Connie is remembered by family and friends as a generous and warm hearted woman who was always willing to help others. She will be sorely missed by Joan Clark and Richard Poirier who faithfully attended to her needs throughout her illness. Connie was always most grateful for the kind help she received from her many dear friends.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Crowley of Durham, NH and Pearl St. Onge of Newport News, VA; three nieces, Bethany Leitz and her husband, Steven and their children Victoria and Curtis of Durham, NH, Joyce Stafford and Diane St. Onge both of Newport News, VA; a nephew, Jason Crowley of San Diego, CA ;an aunt, Alice Daigle of Dracut; many cousins. She was the sister of the late Arthur Crowley.
