Claudette E. Boisjoly

Claudette E. (Houle) (Donohue) Boisjoly, age 83, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter F. Donohue and Ronald F. Boisjoly.

She was born in Dracut on September 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Germaine M. (Gaudette) and Leo J. Houle. She attended St. Louis School and later graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro. Claudette received her bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College in Boston and graduated from Rivier College with a master’s degree in French.

Claudette was a French teacher at Lowell High School, retiring after more than 30 years. While there, she headed the international language club and conducted many trips to Quebec for winter carnival as well as organizing trips to Europe for her students. She was extremely proud of her French heritage and enjoyed any chance to share that while traveling.

Claudette had a zest for life and a friend to many. Her greatest joy however was spending time with her family, especially at the beach. She was a kind and gentle woman who touched many lives.

Claudette is survived and will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Carol O’Neil and her husband Scott of Dracut and Nancy Donohue of Boston; her two grandchildren, Allison Harper and her husband Eric and William O’Neil and his wife Cathryn; her great-grandchild, Rory Scott Harper; her sister, Jeannine Vigerust of New Mexico; her brother, Paul Houle and his wife Barbara of Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister to the late Leo Houle.

Relatives and friends are invited to Claudette’s Life Celebration on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
