Clare C. Hamilton

DRACUT - Clare C. Hamilton, 91, of Lowell and a former longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at a Mary Immaculate Health Care Services. She was the beloved wife of William E. Hamilton for over 60 years, who predeceased her in 2016.

Born in Lowell on February 22, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Gertrude (King) Miskell. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Lowell State Teachers College.

Prior to her retirement, she was the Director of the Dracut Council On Aging. She was a long time communicant of St. Michael’s Church.

After her retirement she worked part time for the Lowell Regional Transit Authority and was a member of Dracut Senior Citizens bowling league for many years. She volunteered for many causes including serving as a board member of the Greater Lowell Kiwanis Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Friends of the Dracut Elderly.

Clare traveled the world with Bill and her best friends Joan and Bob Bedford, visiting many places including Europe, Russia, Australia, the Caribbean and most of the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. She also enjoyed a nice glass of wine and a good meal. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and her beloved cat Bonnie.

Clare is survived by three sons, Kevin Hamilton and his wife Cindy of Kittery, ME, William Hamilton of Lowell, MA and Keith Hamilton and his wife Tammy of Dracut; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Hamilton, Alison (Jared) Morris, Molly (Trevor) Hamilton-Reed, Shawn (Crystal) Hamilton, Lindsy (Steve) Lacourciere and Michael (Kayla) Hamilton; 4 great grandchildren Kaydance, Dakota, Sawyer and Miles and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and John Miskell and sisters, Maureen Sheehan, Ann Marie Laforge, Joan Bedford and Lorraine Primeau, brothers and sisters in-laws, John and Mary Auriemma, Edward and Roberta Comeau, Edward Hamilton, Charles Sheehan, Ernest Laforge, Robert Bedford and Victor Primeau.

Relatives and friends are invited to Clare's Life Celebration on Tuesday, from 10:30 until 11:30 AM in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at St. Michael Church. Burial will follow in the Varnum Cemetery, Dracut. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clare's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
