Claire A. (Carbonneau) Proulx, beloved wife of the late Joseph R.T. Proulx, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died Thursday February 5, Surrounded by her family. She was 94.
Born in Lowell on September 25, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bernadette (Ayotte) Carbonneau.
Claire attended St. Joseph Grammar School and left school to work in the Lowell Mills. She was a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Church and the former Ste. Jeanne d' Arc Church where she was also a member of the St. Anne Sodality. She also held membership in AARP.
Claire's hobbies were sewing, bingo and playing cards, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the mother and mother in law of the late Claire B. and George Cote.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita E. Proulx of Lowell; three sisters, Anna Arsenault of Chelmsford, Rita Brunelle of Dracut, Therese Pomerleau of Lowell; three brothers, Simon Carbonneau of Titusville, FL, Joseph Carbonneau and his wife Agnes of Dracut, Emile Carbonneau and his wife Dorothy of Lowell; four sisters in law, Sylvia Carbonneau, Irene Carbonneau, Doris Carbonneau, Alice Carbonneau all of Lowell; six grandchildren; Claire Ashley and her companion Joseph Pimentel of Fremont, NH, Therese Arsenault and her husband Wayne of Dracut, George Cote and his wife Cheryl of Dracut, Paul Cote and his companion Leslie Foley of Lowell, Raymond Cote and his wife Michelle of Tewksbury, Diane Doherty and her husband Kevin of Pelham, NH,; eighteen great grandchildren, Travis, Bradley, and Randy Ashley, Jacob, Amanda, and Rebecca Arsenault, Andrea Cote, Paul Cote, Jr., Jonathan Cote, Raymond Cote, Jr., Matthew and Sarah Cote, Kaleigh and Ross Doherty, Christopher Allen and his companion Becky, Peter, Eric and Joey Foley of Lowell; two great great grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Jr. and Autumn Allen; a dear friend Al Ashley of Sandown, NH; and many nieces nephews. She was the sister of the late Alfred, Armand, Victor, and Leo Carbonneau, Angelle Chausse, Bernadette Desrosier, and Jeannette Trottier.
