Claire Y. (Bernier) Poisson, beloved wife of Louis A. Poisson, died at her Salisbury residence on Sunday, December 18, 2016, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 76.
Claire was born in Lowell on December 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Adrien and Irene (Messier) Bernier.
Claire and Lou resided in Dracut for many years prior to moving to Salisbury several years ago.
She was a volunteer at the Anna Jacques Hospital, helping out in the mailroom and on the switchboard.
Claire enjoyed sewing, puzzles and going to the beach. She and Lou loved the outdoors and travel. They traveled by motor home across the country. Their adventures took them from Lowell to San Diego, a trip that took seven months. They visited the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, and Branson, Missouri for a country music fix. Claire and Lou's adventures took them kayaking, fishing and zip lining. Claire realized she couldn't be away from her family too long, especially her grandchildren, because spending time with them meant everything to her.
Surviving her besides her husband, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage this past October, are her three children and their spouses, Mark and Catherine Poisson of Chelmsford, Louise and Edward Santos of Dracut, Catherine and Paul Sullivan of Dunstable; five grandchildren, Alyssa Poisson, Ryan Poisson, Kyle Santos, Jacob Santos USAF, Patrick Sullivan; two sisters and a brother in law, Irene Frechette of Merrimack, NH, Annette and Gerald Rondeau of Salem, NH; and several nieces and nephews. Claire was the sister of the late Roland Bernier.
