Christopher Joseph Tierney

January 24, 1927 — October 30, 2006

DRACUT - Christopher Joseph Tierney, 79, a resident of Dracut, died Monday evening, October 30, 2006 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Celestina Alice (DaSilva) Tierney with whom he was married for 59 years.
Born in Lowell on January 24, 1927, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (McCafferty) Tierney.
Mr. Tierney was educated in Lowell Schools and was raised in the Centralville section of the City where he was a communicant of St. Michael Church. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and was a past member of the Dracut American Legion, Post 315.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years by Malden Mills of Lawrence, his last position as department manager.
He enjoyed walking through downtown Lowell, visiting Veterans Memorial Park in Dracut and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher J. Tierney Jr. of Lowell, William and Linda Tierney of Dracut and Michael and Kelly Tierney of Lowell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and David Chaplin of Winthrop, ME and Marie Petroski and her friend Robert Coolidge of Dracut; two brothers, Gerald Tierney of Pepperell and Frederick Tierney and his wife Dorothea of Nashua, NH; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tierney of Derry, NH; 11 grandchildren, Christopher J. Tierney III, Stacey Schuman, Samuel Chaplin, Kimberly Honan, Kelly Tierney, William Tierney, Sarah Petroski, Lashanta Ackley, Emily Tierney, Eliza Tierney and Zachery Tierney; 4 great grandchildren, Tayleigh, Noah and Ella Honan, Emma Schuman; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late
Mary Constant, Rita Morgan, Francis, Joseph, Thomas, Bernard and Raymond Tierney.
