Charlotte S. Weiner

d. December 20, 2020

Charlotte S. Weiner died at age 94 on December 20, 2020, in Florida.

She lived in the Belvidere neighborhood of Lowell, MA, for much of her life. There she honed her skills as a hostess. Charlotte was an excellent baker and produced a wide array of cookies for her annual holiday party. Her apple pie and pumpkin bread were also outstanding. Charlotte liked to sing and would often entertain guests with a song while someone played the piano.

Charlotte loved to talk with people and struck up friendships easily, two characteristics that served her well when she worked in the family business, Weiner's Furs on Merrimack Street in Lowell.

During the Great Depression, Charlotte's family relocated for a few years to the Bronx, New York City. When the recession ended, they started the fur business in Lowell.

Charlotte and her only sibling, older brother Dr. Robert S. Weiner, enjoyed their summer visits as children to the family's beach house in Pine Point, ME. Bob knew he could always count on Charlotte for help, and vice versa.

After the deaths of her parents, Edward and Lillian Weiner, Charlotte remained in the family house in Lowell. While living there, Charlotte grew close with Vic and Joanne Gagne of Billerica, MA. Some might say that the Gagnes adopted her.

Charlotte eventually moved out of her parents' house to nearby Chelmsford, MA. To escape the New England winters, she began wintering on Florida's Atlantic Coast and then relocated full time to Daytona Beach, FL. When Charlotte was no longer able to live independently, she moved in with Vic and Joanne Gagne, who now lived in nearby Port Orange, FL. They looked after her with loving care.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, her brother, and many close friends. She is survived by her niece Susan Weiner and Susan's husband Allan Lewis of Newton, MA; her nephew Joseph Weiner and his wife Yvette Starer of Tenafly, NJ; grandnephews Steven, David, and Jeffrey Weiner; and Vic and Joanne Gagne of Port Orange, FL.

Funeral arrangements will be private. Donations in Charlotte's memory should be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
