CHELMSFORD - Charles G. Walls, age 82, a longtime resident of Chelmsford died Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Yvonne M. (Lafond) Walls, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 9th.
He was born in Louisville, KY on March 23, 1042, and was a son of the late Garland E. and Lottie (Pittman) Walls. He was a graduate of Sacramento High School and attended Western Kentucky University, and was a star basketball player for both. He also attended Lowell State College.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years in the infirmary at the Billerica House of Correction as a Licensed Practical Nurse. During his career he also drove a van for their work release program and was employed as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Charles was an avid basketball fan, especially the Kentucky Wildcats and loved music and collecting albums.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Cruz of Windham, NH; his son, Gavin Walls of Chelmsford; and his grandson, Christiano Cruz of Windham, NH.
It being his wish, services were private.
