Charles A. Charlie Voyer

Charles A. Voyer, 92, a longtime Dracut resident, died Saturday October 2, 2010, following an extended illness with his daughter by his side. He spent forty-eight wonderful years married to Doris B. (Pare) Voyer who passed away in 1995.
Born in Lowell on June 15, 1918, he was a son of the late Charles and Amanda (Daigneault) Voyer. Charles was educated in the Lowell School System and attended Lowell Trade School on Kirk Street.
Charlie was a decorated Army veteran having served during World War II with the Fourth Infantry Division . Some of his campaigns include tours in Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland ,The Utah Beach invasion and, most historically, The Battle of the Bulge. Citations include, WWII Victory Medal, The American Theater Medal and the honorable Bronze Battle Star.
For many years, Charlie worked under his mentor, Mr. Leandre Marion of Marion Construction of Lowell. He spent most of his career working as a union carpenter and was a sixty year member of Merrimack Valley Brotherhood of Carpenters- Local 111.
He was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish (Ste. Therese Church) in Dracut. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Local Post 662, Plain Street in Lowell.
He was an outstanding craftsman having built his own home and took great pride in maintaining his property. He always spoke so fondly of his many friends in the Rosemont neighborhood where he grew up.
Charlie is survived by his only daughter, Charlene D. Voyer, who will miss her Pa dearly, and her dear friends, Richard Harvey of Dracut and Judy Nally of Hudson. He is also survived by two Godsons, Maurice Coutu of Nashua, NH, Paul Pare of Tyngsboro; two sisters-in-law, Phoebe Voyer and Dorothy Pare both of Dracut.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Voyer, Rosa Gagnon, Helen Hayes, Elizabeth Soroko and Noella Dubois and Godfather of the late John Pare.
