DERRY, NH - Charles K. "Sarge" Sargent, age 85, a resident of Derry, NH and former longtime Lowell resident died Monday, February 8, 2021 following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Florence E. (Durand) (Montbleau) Sargent and the late Janet L. (Bacon) Sargent, who died in 2008.
He was born in Lowell on September 18, 1935, and was a son of the late Ervin and Mary (Brown) Sargent.
Charles served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 37 years as a truck driver in the construction industry with the New England Teamsters and Trucking, during which time he worked on the Big Dig in Boston for several years.
Charles was a member of the Derry, NH American Legion Post #9 and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was an avid bingo playing and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Sargent and her husband Richard Estabrook of Lowell and Kellie Sargent Robinson of Manchester, NH; three grandchildren, Rebecca Christian of Lowell, Tammi Dunn of Nashua, NH, and Sarah Pelletier of Manchester, NH; six great grandchildren, Avery, Andrew, Natalie, Jaylee, Kaiylnn, and Everly; a sister, Geraldine Golas of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Donald, George, Erwin, James, Dorothy, Francis, Gerald, and Robert Sargent and Shirley Dubenetsky.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services were private. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles' memory to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
