Dracut - Charles Pelley, 92, husband of Josephine L. (Cox) Pelley, a Dracut resident, died Monday May 2, at a local nursing home.
He was born in Lowell on April 1, 1913, a son of the late Victor and Ethel (Kanavos) Pellekasis
Mr. Pelley was a member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.
He was a retired musician and composer and was a former staff vocalist at W.L.L.H radio, W.E.E.I. - CBS radio in Boston, the master of ceremonies at the former Hi Hat in Lowell, and the Paradise Club. He was a staff musician at the Bradford Hotel in Boston, and the head of orchestrations with the Charley Pelley Band at the former Speare House in Lowell for thirty years.
He was a member of the Lowell and Boston Musicians Association, the American Guild of Variety Artists, the American Guild of Radio Artists, past vice president of A.H.E.P.A - Lowell chapter, Masonic Order member of Ancient York.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Charles T. and Karen Pelley of Hampton, NH, Bruce A. and Barbara Pelley of Tyngsboro; a sister Sally Malliaros of Dracut; six grandchildren, Thomas, Lance, Brett, Casey, Chaison, and Brendan Pelley; and three great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Arthur Pellekasis.
