Charles Richard “Dick” Matte, age 77, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, February 16, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Linda M. (Maille) Matte of Lovell, Maine.
Born in Lowell on June 19, 1947 he was the son of the late Rita (Bergeron) and Charles Matte. Dick graduated from Dracut High School, Class of 1965 and upon graduating proudly went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Later he received his degree in Business Administration from Lowell Tech and worked several years as a sales manager for ULVAC Technologies.
Dick was an avid lover of the outdoors. He often enjoyed camping, kayaking, boating, fishing and in his earlier years biking. His greatest accomplishment above all else however, was his family and being the epitome of an all around family man.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish in North Conway and active with the Lovell Historical Society.
In addition to his wife Linda, Richard is survived by his two daughters, Lori Todisco and her husband, Mike of Hudson, NH and Kymm Smith and her husband, James of Moultonborough, NH; his five grandchildren, Tia Lorenzo and her fiancé, Ryan Lurvey, A.J. Smith, Jared Todisco, Emma Smith and Gina Todisco; his two brothers, Maurice Matte and his wife, Linda of Billerica and Michael Matte; as well as many other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Richard’s Life Celebration on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 9:30 until 10:15 AM at ST. KATHRYN’S CHURCH, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson, NH. His Funeral Mass will immediately be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Lovell Area Food Pantry, P.O. Box 261, Lovell, ME 04051.
