LOWELL - Charles A. "Mickey" Gearin, 80, a lifelong resident of Lowell, residing in the Centralville section of Lowell, died Saturday, May 5, 2007 following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Patricia (Laird) Gearin, with whom he was married for 47 years.
Born in Lowell, on June 7, 1926, he was a son of the late Charles and Laura (Ducherme) Gearin.
Mr. Gearin served his country during two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy, and was a Veteran of both World War II aboard the USS Texas, and the Korean War aboard the USS Bristol. Following his service, he worked for 30 years at Pierce Ford as a mechanic, before his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of St. Michael Parish of Lowell.
Mickey enjoyed vacations with his family at Salisbury Beach. He also enjoyed working outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked helping family, friends and neighbors with auto and home repair during his retirement years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gearin is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Maryellen and Paul Fazio of Methuen and Barbara Gearin of Lowell; two grandchildren, Justine and Eric Fazio of Methuen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen Laird of Lowell, Esther and Daniel Degan of Lowell, George Hadfield of Dracut and Jack and Lorraine Laird of Dracut; also many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a longtime neighbor and family friend, Theresa Champoux of Lowell.
