LOWELL - Charles E. Dyke, 88, a longtime resident of Lowell died peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital - Saints Campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Bertha L. (f) Dyke.
He was born in Everett on March 4, 1928, and was a son of the late Edward and Gladys (Crocker) Dyke.
Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years in various capacities in the construction industry.
Charles was a member of the Lowell American Legion, Post 87, The Thomas Talbot Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Billerica, and the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington. It was with the Aleppo Shriners that Charles found his passion for helping sick children and their families. This passion led him to join the famed Aleppo Shrine Clowns where he took on the persona of Creepy Mouse the Clown. As Creepy Mouse he traveled the country entertaining sick children. He was also a staple at the annual Shriners Circus and at local parades. In 2003 he was voted "Aleppo Clown of the Year".
In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and outside cooking and was known for his bean hole beans. He also was known for his delicious Christmas Bread.
