Charles Gardner Brown

Charles Gardner Brown, born March 10, 1927, formerly of the Waverly Section of Belmont, passed away at his home in St. Cloud, FL on Dec. 12, 2010 surrounded by many of his children and grandchildren. Charlie was the son of the late Benjamin and Jesse (Rogers) Brown. He was the husband of Denise (Roach) Brown with whom he would have celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2010.
Charlie retired from the Boston and Maine Railroad before he moved to Florida in 1978 to work for Walt Disney World as a painter and wallpaperer. Charlie enjoyed playing golf and playing cribbage. He recently reached the Masters Level while playing tournaments with his league in Haines City. He always enjoyed cooking and having friends and family visit and share a meal. He enjoyed travelling to London and visiting his special friends in New Castle, Northern Ireland.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Linda (Brown) Knight of Lowell; his sons and daughter, Lawrence Brown and his wife Pauline of Kissimmee, FL, Jim Swain and his wife Diane of FL, Robert Swain of New Hampstead, NH, Susan (Swain) Allen and her husband Brian of Nashua, NH; he is also survived by his step children, Kevin Roach and his partner Margaret Feller, Kathy Cochran and her husband Robert, all of St. Cloud, FL, Shaun Roach of Daytona, FL and Jimmy Roach and his wife Kathy of Exeter, NH; he also leaves his grandchildren, Lawrence Brown Jr. and Juanita Pedlose, both of Kissimmee, FL, David, Tim and Adam Swain, as well as 15 other grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sisters, Sylvia Ellis of Arlington, VA and Marilyn Demers and her husband Raymond of Concord; sisters-in-law, Earlene Sherman of Waltham and Ina Noyes of Corine, CA; brothers-in-law, Norris Noyes of Burlington and Garry Noyes of Waltham. Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverna (Noyes)(Brown) Griffin and their two sons, Donald and Gerald Brown, by his second wife, Judith (Mann)(Swain) Brown and his brother, J. Roger Brown.
At his request, there were no formal services. A memorial gathering of relatives and friends will be held at his daughter’s home in Lowell on Jan. 9, at 1:00 PM. Private burial will take place in the Belmont Cemetery.
