Charles E. Beck, 78, a Dracut resident, beloved husband of Mary (Golden) Beck, died Sunday May 3, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Born in Sparrow's Point, Maryland, on December 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Charles M. and D. Kathryn (Oberle) Beck.
Charlie was employed as an Engineer by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts- Department of Public Works.
He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant, having fought with the Army Security Agency during the Korean War.
Charlie liked to spend time during the summer months traveling with his wife to Cape May, New Jersey and also to Maine and then to Las Vegas, Nevada in the fall.
Fishing was a hobby the he enjoyed but his greatest joy came from spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.
He was a current member of the East End Club.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Charles E. Beck, Jr. and his wife Phyllis G. of Tyngsboro; two grandchildren, Eric M. Beck and Jillian L. Beck both of Tyngsboro; two sisters, Delores Walinski and Mary Agnes Wolfe both of Maryland; two brothers-in-law, Bernard B. Golden and his wife Maureen of Pelham, New Hampshire and Raymond Poitras of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Eileen Golden of Lowell; several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Robert and Vincent Beck.
