Celina L. (Guillemette) Morneau, a longtime Lowell resident, widow of the late Leo J. Morneau, died Thursday August 27, 2009 at Saints Medical Center. She was 88.
Born in Dracut on September 7, 1920, She was a daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Celina (Toussaint) Guillemette.
Celina was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church in Lowell where she was very active for many years. She loved to play pinochle, cook and bake. She was well known to many for her delicious whoopie pies that she used to bake in a very particular way that, although people tried, could not be duplicated. She was lovingly referred to as the cat lady because she cared and nurtured many cats in her neighborhood. She was truly a wonderful woman and her family is blessed to have had her in their lives.
Survivors include two sons; George N. Morneau and his wife, Deborah of Dracut, Francis L. Morneau and his wife, Rita of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Theresa Gendron and her husband, Roland of Lowell, Florence D. Corson and her husband, Robert of Pittsfield, NH; a sister, Regina McKenney of Jaffrey, NH; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
