LOWELL - Lowell resident for the past 4 years and a Dracut resident for over 61 years, Catherine (Jalkewicz) Grady, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Saab residence.
Kitty was the wife of the late Roland "Kenny" Grady, who passed away November 10, 2004. They were married for 62 years. Born in Lowell on November 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Antonia (Skura) and Frank Jalkewicz.
Kitty graduated from the Butler School and Lowell High School. She worked at CBS Hytron in Danvers and CBS Electronics in Lowell for eight years as an engineering aide, then for Honeywell in Lowell and Billerica for 18 years as a group leader. She was an avid antique collector, who loved traveling, especially through Europe. She loved gardening and delighted in tending to her flowers.
Kitty was predeceased by her son, Thomas and is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joanne Grady of Simpsonville, SC; two granddaughters Caitlin Grady May and her husband Dr. Russ May of Cleveland, TN; and Dr. Meredith Grady of Salt Lake City, Utah; and great-granddaughter, Natalie May, and great-grandsons William May and Benjamin Grady May of Cleveland, TN.
Kitty was the sister of the late Jennie Stonis and of the late Charles Jalkewicz. She wishes to thank her dear friends the Montgomery Family, Shawne Smith, Lynn Desilets and Dick Durand, who made her life easier with their caring help.
Kitty is especially grateful to both the caring staff at the Saab Residence, for providing her with a loving and nurturing environment, and to Merrimack Valley Hospice, for providing her with compassionate end of life care.
GRADY - Relatives and friends are invited to Kitty's visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM in the Holy Trinity Polish Church, 340 High Street. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery.
