Brian F. Witts

d. Oct 16, 2026

Dracut

Brian Witts passed away on October 16, 2026, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. During his final days, he was surrounded by his family and wonderful friends.

Brian was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, and never strayed too far from his hometown. He was a graduate of Lowell High School. During his 36 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Brian demonstrated a strong work ethic, often working six days a week in all kinds of weather. He held routes in Lawrence, Methuen, and North Andover.

After retiring from the Post Office, Brian continued working, first for Waste Management and for the last seven years, as a Recycling Coordinator for the Lowell Department of Public Works. For several years he also worked as an umpire for various sports leagues and as a referee for youth and high school wrestling, which he especially enjoyed.

Brian enjoyed following professional sports, loved his dog, Nicki, and was a lover of good food and beverages. As an avid sports fan, Brian had a special affinity for the Orioles and Camden Yards, held season tickets to Boston College football, enjoyed attending the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden for a number of years, and traveling to Lake George and Saratoga Springs. He was the family chef and had a palate for foods from all over. He also had an appreciation for progressive rock music and enjoyed attending live performances. But nothing meant more to Brian than his three children, Brianna, Jaclyn, and Daniel. He was immensely proud of them, and they brought him the most joy. Brian will be fondly remembered for his dry sense of humor.

Brian leaves behind his wife, Jeannine Lacerte-Witts of Dracut; his daughters, Brianna Witts of Woburn and Jaclyn Witts of Brookline; his son, Daniel Witts of Dracut; his stepmother, Sue Witts; his sisters, Pamela LeFebre, Kelly Walsh, and Angel Chamberlain; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Ann (O’Loughlin) Castellano; his father, Francis Witts; and his sister, Trisha Hackney.

Relatives and friends are invited to Brian’s Life Celebration on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 AM at St. Rita’s Church, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
