Obituary - Brian E. Bratton

Dracut - Brian E. Bratton, 53, died Wednesday April 13, at his home following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Welch) Bratton, with whom he would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in July.
Mr. Bratton was born in Boston on August 16, 1952, a son of the late Joseph Bratton and Lorraine (Feeney) Bratton of Dracut who survives him.
He grew up in the Mattapan section of Boston, attended Boston public schools and was a 1971 graduate of Hyde Park High School.
Prior to his illness he was employed in the shipping and receiving department at various warehouses in Boston and Lowell, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 504 in Boston.
For the past ten years Brian was a volunteer at the Parker Avenue School in Dracut and served one year as president of the Parker Avenue School PTO. He was knowledgeable and passionate about world politics and history.

Surviving him besides his mother and wife are a daughter, Meghan Bratton, a sophomore at Dracut High School; five brothers, Kevin of Pennsylvania, Jerry of Norton, William of South Weymouth, Michael of New Bedford, Patrick of North Reading and his sister Nancy O'Loughlin of South Weymouth and their families; three sisters in law, Eileen Eno of Lowell, Mary Shapiro of Florida, Maureen Abreu of Dracut and four brothers in law, Tom Welch of Lowell, Bob Welch of New Hampshire, Joe Welch of Florida, John O'Brien of Dracut and their families; several nieces and nephews including, Jennifa Wall, Thomas Wall, Elizabeth Daigle, Timothy Shapiro, Anthony Abreu; and many friends. He was also the brother in law of the late Katie O'Brien.
