DRACUT - Blanche Irene (Proulx) Jussaume, age 99, a lifelong resident of Dracut passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry C. Jussaume, to whom she was married for 50 years prior to his passing on August 26, 1993.
She was born in Lowell on August 6, 1922, and was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Anne (Charest) Proulx. She attended Lowell Trade School.
Although Blanche spent most of her life tending to the needs of her home and family, she began working outside of the at an early age as a Mill Girl in Lowell. She then went on to work at Sanders and finally retiring from Compugraphic in Wilmington.
She was an active member of St. Francis Church for many years and was known for making baptism bibs for many babies. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and delivered communion to those who were homebound, as well as bringing them hand-made Rosary Beads. She was also a longtime devotee the Nocturnal Adoration Society on the first Friday of the month.
Blanche was a great and beautiful seamstress, known for making hundreds of clothes and quilts for family, friends, and the community.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Marie DiMare, who died in 2015, two daughters-in-law, Jeannette Jussaume and Carol Jussaume, a grandson, three great grandchildren, four sisters, and seven brothers.
She is survived by two daughters , Janet Gaunt and her husband Bernard of Dracut and Suzanne Kuszek and her husband Michael of Tewksbury; four sons, Henry Jussaume and his wife Laurette of Bradford, NH, Roland Jussaume of Lowell, Donald Jussaume of Dracut, and Armand Jussaume and his wife Betty of Dracut; a brother, Robert Proulx of Dracut; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Blanche's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Thursday, February 10th from 4:00 until 8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 11th at 10:00am at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Face masks are required at church.
