Dracut – Bernice G. (Maloney) Bailey, widow of Raymond J. Bailey a Dracut resident, died on Sunday May 20, 2012, at a local nursing center. She was 89.
Born on Lowell on April 2, 1923, Bernice was a daughter of the late Darby and Florence (Sawyer) Maloney.
In earlier years Bernice was employed in the Boot Mills as a spinner. Prior to her retirement she was employed in the bookkeeping department of the former Bon Marche, Raytheon, and AGFA.
Bernice was a communicant of St. Francis Parish in Dracut. She was a member of the Dracut Senior Center, was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Bernice also volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include two sisters in law, Estelle Maloney of Lowell, Ruth Maloney of ME; nieces and nephews, Richard A. Maloney and his wife Mary Ellen of Lowell, Jeanne Mason and her husband Dr. Roger Mason of AK, Peter Thomas and his wife Alice of Georgetown, Stephen Maloney and his wife Clair of Dracut, Jack Maloney and his wife Bernadette of ME; eight grandnieces and grandnephews; several great grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Robert Maloney, Frances Thomas, Gerald Maloney and aunt of the late Gerald Maloney, Jr.
Bernice's family would also like to thank the staff at the Life Care Center in Billerica for the exceptional care that was given to her during her stay.
