Barbara Valerie (Frankland) Calhoun

April 20, 1940 – March 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Barbara Calhoun. Born in Westford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Holt Frankland and Esther Lucille (Schurman) Frankland. She was the wife of the late James F. Calhoun with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Barbara, a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 84. She was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She spent her later years with her partner and longtime friend Paxson Rose. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness. She touched so many hearts, and we are grateful for every precious memory. As a devoted stay-at-home mom, she found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life. She loved going for breakfast, seeing her friends, doing puzzles and taking care of her pets. She found immense happiness in the company of her cats, who were treated as cherished members of the family. She was loved for her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, who will forever cherish the memories they shared.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Ozana of Lowell, Kathleen Mendonca of Deerfield, NH, Stephen Calhoun of MA and Diane LeBlanc of MA,; Paxson’s children, Tammy Hamilton of Dracut and Robin Buxton of Pepperell; her grandchildren, Vivian James, Shauna Ozana, Kaylee and Corey Mendonca, Amber, Felicia and Nathan LeBlanc; three great grandchildren, Kaydance, Carter and Theo Mendonca; a brother, Thomas Frankland of MA; also many nieces and nephews.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we remember her and celebrate her life.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 AM in St. Mary Cemetery Chapel, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
