LOWELL - Barbara A. (Hanney) Deschene, 79, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Lowell General Hospital. She was the loving companion of the late Albert "Sonny" Greenhalge for over 30 years.
Born in Lowell on July 14, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Walter "Jake" Hanney and Margaret "Peg" (Shaughnessy) Hanney.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Deschene worked as a day care provider for Clarendon Day Care of Tewksbury.
Proud of her Irish Catholic Heritage, she was a member of St. Patrick Church in Lowell.
Most important to Barbara was spending time with her family, she especially enjoyed cooking and baking for them during family gatherings and around the Holidays. She also enjoyed interior decorating and shopping on QVC and other shopping networks.
She is survived by four children, Darlene Rodier, Karen Coan, Kimberly Thompson and her husband David, and Laurie Rondeau and her husband Brien, all of Lowell; two sisters, Patricia Hanney and Joan Dowling and her husband John, all of Lowell; 9 grandchildren, Keith, Adam, Raymond, Jr., Meaghan, Matthew, Ashley, Alyssa, also Cassidy and Jake with whom she shared a special relationship; three great grandchildren, Raymond, III, Makayla and Adrien; also many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Sharon, Gilbert, Michelle and Kevin Deschene, grandmother of the late Meadow Rondeau, sister of the late Shirley Milinazzo and mother-in-law of the late Curtis Rodier. She was the former wife of the late Andre Gilbert "Gil" Deschene.
