Dracut - With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Armour Joseph “Jerry” Davidson, who left us peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Lowell on August 21, 1945, he was a son of the late Armour J. And Daurice (McArdle) Davidson.
Known to most simply as “Jerry,” he was a devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved grandfather, and a lifelong lover of football. He built a life rooted in loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love for his family.
Whether cheering from the sidelines or relaxing in his favorite chair during a game, Jerry’s passion for football was unmatched—but it was his family that truly had his heart. He was the kind of man who showed up—whether it was for a big game, a quiet moment, or a helping hand. His wisdom, humor, and warmth touched everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his deep laugh, and the way he lit up when surrounded by his grandchildren. In every huddle, every Sunday game, and every family gathering, his spirit will live on.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Gumbris) Davidson, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, devotion, and joy. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this September. He was the cherished father and a proud father-in-law of Scott and Melanie Davidson, John and Jessica Davidson, Courtney and Mark Murphy. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: James Murphy, William Murphy, Finn Murphy, Adam Davidson, Abigail Davidson, and Kayla Davidson, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. Brother and brother in law of Jack and Patty Davidson, Dick Mealy and the late Judy Mealy.
He was our coach, our cheerleader, our rock—and he will be missed beyond measure.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jerry's Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 543 Bridge Street, Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada St #201, Newton, MA 02460.
