CLERMONT, FL - Armand R. “Babe” Asselin, age 75, a resident of Clermont, FL and former longtime resident of Londonderry, NH died Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Cornerstone Hospice in Clermont. He was the beloved husband of Linda A. (Greene) Asselin, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marrying in September.
He was born in Lowell on June 25, 1947, and was a son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Langlois) Asselin. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Lowell and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lowell Technical College.
Prior to his retirement, Babe was employed for many years as a telephone communications specialist at Mitel and then at Bell South. Following retirement he did accounting work. Earlier in life he was employed as an auxiliary police officer for the town of Londonderry, NH.
He was a longtime member of the Salem Racquetball Club in Salem, NH.
In his free time, Babe in enjoyed playing racquetball and golf, boating, dancing, traveling, gardening, and singing. His greatest joy however, was spending time in the company of his loving family and his faithful companion Chester.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Holly A. Smith of Portsmouth, NH; his two grandchildren, Madeleine Smith and Cameron Smith, both of Portsmouth, NH; a brother, Robert Asselin of Lowell; two sisters, Lucille Asselin of Lowell and Susan Berard and her husband Robert of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Judy Douglas of Palm Harbor, FL; his lifelong friend, David Ouellette and his wife Kathy of Pelham, NH; a dear friend, Paul Traverse and his wife Mary; and many nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Ignatowicz and her husband John of Pelham, NH, Jason Berard and his wife Gail of Aurora and their children, Boston and Grace, and Robbie Douglas and his wife Heather of Florida.
He was also the brother of the late Roger “Bo” Asselin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Babe’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell, MA on Thursday, October 13th from 9:00 until 11:00am followed by his Funeral Service at 11:45 at the St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel in Chelmsford, MA. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Babe’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org.
