LOWELL – Arlene M. (Otis) Walker, age 93, longtime resident of Lowell, died on Friday, January 24, 2014.
Arlene was born in Newington, New Hampshire, on December 10, 1920. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Emmett Walker, parents, Roslyn and Grace (Pease) Otis, and daughter, Patricia Pay. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1938.
She is survived by grandson Anthony, and granddaughters, Kim and Jennifer, as well as several great grandchildren, and half-sister, Norma Rowe. She is survived by cousins, Mary Carleton, Esther Riopelle, Sister Elizabeth Riopelle, C.S.M. and Mary A. Riopelle.
Through the support of friends, Michael and Doris Miller, and her cousins, Arlene was able to remain in her own home until the last few months. Arlene passed away at D'Youville Senior Care.
Arlene was employed for many years in the toy department of Bon Marche in Lowell. As well, she volunteered at a local craft shop assisting others with ceramics, knitting, crocheting and other crafts. She was an ardent gardener, had a great love and knowledge of nature. Being an avid reader, Arlene was very knowledgeable on many topics.
