Obituary
LOWELL - Annette Dora (LaBrie) Monette, 93, a resident of the Centralviile section of Lowell, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 in a local nursing home. She was the wife of Maurice G. Monette with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 24.
Born in Lowell on July 13, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Cyrille and Noemi
(Dessureault) LaBrie.
Upon her graduation from Lowell High School in 1930, Mrs. Monette started her career working in the Silk Mills of Lowell from 1930 until 1945, working in the winding room and the warping room. From the mid 1940's until the mid 1950's she worked in the dress departments of Pollard's and Sallinger's. During the later 1950's and into the 1960's she worked in the Cafeteria at St. Louis de France School. She finished her career working in Wang Laboratories of Tewksbury retiring in 1972.
Active in the former St. Louis de France Parish, she was the former president, former vice president, former secretary, former assistant secretary and former publicist of the St. Louis Guild.
She was a member of the Lowell Senior Citizens and Dracut Senior Citizens, of which she was a member of their candlepin bowling league and a member of the Dracut Cribbage League.
Mrs. Monette enjoyed playing the piano and organ, ten pin and candlepin bowling, dressmaking, baking, knitting, crocheting, playing cribbage and doing crossword puzzles.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Maurice L. Monette of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Jeanne T. Yorke of Los Lunas, NM, Michele McClellan and her fianc�e Mark Anderson, both of Lowell; a sister, Noemi LaBrie of Lowell; three sisters-in-law, Sr. Loretta Monette SASV, Sr. Beatrice Monette SASV and Sr. Lucille Monette SASV; four grandchildren, Bill R. McClellan of Tewksbury, Kevin M. McClellan of Lowell, Hugh McGowan and his wife Julie of TX and Sean McGowan of CA; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gabrielle Cartwright, Florence LaBrie, Amaryllis LaBrie, Rev. Lionel LaBrie OMI and Rev. Real LaBrie OMI, sister-in-law of the late Rev. Leo Monette OMI, Hector Monette, Cecile Fissenger and Sr. Rita Monette SASV.
