Annette A. Matte

Dracut- Annette A. (Desmarais) Matte, widow of Edward J. Matte, a Dracut resident, died Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Fairhaven Nursing Home following a period of declining health. She was 93.
Annette was born in Lowell on April 6, 1916, a daughter of the late Narcisse and Albina (Bordeleau) Desmarais.
Annette retired from the town of Dracut where she worked in the cafeteria of local schools.
She was a communicant of the former Ste. Therese Church now Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish for more than 60 years. Annette also volunteered at the Dracut Senior Center for more than 35 years. She held membership in the Dracut Senior Citizen Club. She was also an avid bingo player, loved dancing and enjoyed travelling.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Edward and Claire Matte of Dracut; four daughters and a son in law, Pauline and Terry Gerlach, Estelle Grande, all of Dracut, Elaine Xander of North Carolina, Denise Parker of Milford, NH; a sister in law Marie Desmarais of Lowell; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Jason Valkavitch, and sister of the late Irene Toupin, Alice Blanchette, Cecile Picard, Eva Marchand, Dorice Masson, Juliette Powers, Nelson, Raymond, Lionel and Roland Desmarais.
Annette's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fairhaven Nursing Home for all the love and wonderful care she received there.
