Anna (Tgibedes) Vallante

Anna (Tgibedes) Vallante, a resident of Quincy, formerly Dracut, died on Thursday October 3, 2013. She was 96.
Anna was born in Lowell on October 9, 1916, a daughter of the late George and Despina (Perinitzi) Tgibedes.
Prior to her retirement, Anna worked in the electrical department at the former Western Electric.
Anna was a member of the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church in Lowell.
Nana Anna as she was affectionately known was a self taught seamstress who made all of her own clothes. In earlier years she also made clothes for the girls throughout her neighborhood.
Anna was influenced by her parents, their hard work and devotion to their family helped shape her into the person she became. Nana Anna embraced her Greek heritage and enjoyed making Greek food and keeping all of the family traditions.
She was able to play the piano without lessons and spoke several languages. Her family describes her as a devoted person who was always upbeat. Anna was a curious person who was talkative. She would strike up conversations anywhere. She loved to socialize.
Anna liked to dance. Her pets were among some of her favorite things, her black lab Bridget and her Siamese cat Monkey were special to her. She revered her sons, most of all Anna was known for her devotion to her family. They were foremost in her life.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Charles and Deborah Vallante of Quincy; five grandchildren, Mark Vallante, Lori Vallante, Jodi Vallante, Nicole Vallante, Michael Vallante; five great grandchildren; a brother Steven Tgibedes of Lowell; a sister Betty Blazonis of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Carl G. Vallante, and sister of the late Stella Beaudry, Helen Sedleski, Pauline Stone, Nicholas, Theodore and Peter Tgibedes.
