Andre B. Soucy, 87, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Wednesday May 28, 2014 at D'Youville Senior Care surrounded by those who loved him. He shared 58 years of marriage with the late Rita M. (Furtado) Soucy who passed away in 2005.
Born in Lowell on June 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Eva (Beausoleil) Soucy.
Andre enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, serving aboard the SS Robert Stuart, where he received the following medals, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
Over the years, Andre's career spanned in many areas throughout Lowell including associations with Armour & Co., Conant's Market and Belvidere Beef & Fish, Inc. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish and held membership in both their Holy Name and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. He proudly served as a Past Grand Counselor of the Grand Council of New England Order of United Commercial Travelers of America having been a member for over 60 years.
Andre is survived by his children, Joan and Michael Armstrong of Lowell; Patricia and Thomas Hebert of Lowell; Judith Hartman of Westerville, OH; Brian and Carol Soucy of Pelham, NH; Cheryl and Leo Sheridan of Lowell; Joseph and Maureen Soucy of Lowell; his grandchildren, Michael Nangle, Laurie King, Kelly Nangle, Christopher Armstrong, Jennifer Armstrong, Melissa Hebert, Matthew Hebert, Leslie Desrochers, Brittany Hartman, Kaitlin Soucy, Matthew Soucy, Kristen Laurin, Leo Sheridan, Ashley Soucy, Jonathan Soucy; his great grandchildren, Jillian and Kendall Nangle, Thomas, Sean, Colin and Owen King, Kaylie, Riley, Cassie and Cara Armstrong, Emilie Tackett, Emma Desrochers, and Baby L expected in October; a sister, Cecile Joyal of Tyngsboro; nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his daughter and son in law, Carol A. and Robert P. Nangle, his grandson, Brian E. Soucy, Jr. and his brothers, Rene H. Gerald A., Maurice L., and Donald P. Soucy.
