Andre P. Gagnon

Lowell- Andre P. Gagnon, 87, lifelong Lowell resident, beloved husband of the late Julie A. Gagnon who passed away on January 7, 2010, with whom he was married to for more than 61 years, died Monday March 1, 2010 at the D'Youville Senior Care.
Born on December 12, 1922, he was a son of Louis and Marie Louise (Arcand) Gagnon.
He was educated in the Lowell school system. For 17 years he worked for his brother Tony at Gagnon Hardware Store in Lowell. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 obtaining rank of Sergeant. In 1954 with the help of his beloved wife, Julie, they founded AG Hardware. He retired in 1988 leaving the business to his oldest and youngest sons, Paul and Louis.
He was an active communicant for all his life at the former St. Jeanne D'Arc Church in Lowell and more recently at the D'Youville Senior Care Chapel. Andre was currently the longest serving member of the Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Board of Directors. He served on the Building Committee for Franco American School. He was a member of the Board of Governance at Saints Medical Center. He was a member of D'Youville Men's Guild. He was also a member of "The Lunch Bunch" at D'Youville Senior Care.
Andre enjoyed traveling on many trips throughout the world.
Andre is survived by four sons, Paul A. Gagnon and his wife Suzanne (Bertrand), Donald G. Gagnon (Gagnon Lawnmower), Carl G. Gagnon and his wife Linda (Leahy)(R.C. Alarms); Louis P. Gagnon and his wife Mary (Coupal); thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren, a brother Rev. Herve Gagnon, OMI of Lowell; a sister Maria (Gagnon) SansCartier of Jaffrey, NH; a brother-in-law Germain Laroche, Phd. and his wife Lorraine of Maine. He was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters.
