Andre R. Forest, 85, a Dracut resident, beloved husband of Therese R. (Marquis) Forest died Thursday January 1, 2009 at the Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Lowell on June 22, 1923 he was a son of the late Ernest and Eva (Carpentier) Forest.
Andre served in the United States Navy during WWII serving as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class. Citations he received were 2 stars on the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the American Area Medal.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and The Devry Institute where he earned a degree in Electronics.
Andre retired from Raytheon Corp. of Andover after 34 years as a Test Department Group Leader.
He was a member of the CMAC Club and a member of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish.
Andre was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed duckpin bowling, playing the piano and traveling. Andre was a former baseball player, catching for the Lowell Braves. He was also an excellent figure skater and loved the beach.
Besides his wife, survivors include, three sons, Normand Forest and his wife Helene of Lowell, Robert Forest of Goffstown, NH, Paul Forest and his wife Linda of Lowell; a daughter, Paulette Geoffroy and her husband Steve of Dracut; eight grandchildren, Virginia Dufault and her husband Tom, Joanne Forsythe and her husband Ryan, Keith Forest, Adam Forest, Nancy Gould and her husband Jonathan, Alison Mumford and her husband Andrew, Elizabeth Geoffroy, Scott Geoffroy; 2 great grandchildren, Autumn Dufault and Cameron Dufault; four sisters, Doris Belley and her husband Norman of Tewksbury, Rita Forest of Tyngsboro, Estelle Gendreau of Lowell, Sr. Therese Forest, S.C.O. of Lowell, a brother in law, Thomas Ward of Lowell; several nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late Ernest Forest, Pauline Tousignant and Gabrielle Marquis
