Alphonse L. Thibeault

Alphonse L. Thibeault, Jr., 69, beloved husband of Claudette C. ( Lareau) Thibeault, with whom he would have celebrated 47 years of marriage this November, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died unexpectedly Sunday June 10, 2007 at the Saints Medical Center. He was born in Lowell on June 11, 1937, a son of the late Alphonse Louis Thibeault, Sr. and Grace M.L. (Crete) Thibeault.
Al graduated from St. Louis Grammar School, St. Joseph High School received and Associates degree from St. John College in Bar Harbor, ME. He was a veteran having retired from the US Army serving in the 330 First General Hospital Division after 10 years of service and attained the rank of First Lieutenant.
He owned and operated Al's Variety on West Sixth St. in Lowell for 27 years. Al was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church and currently a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut where he served as an Usher, Men's Club officer and member, 600 Club captain and treasurer, and was a volunteer for the Turkey raffles, Ham & Bean Suppers, he also helped with Santa at the Children's Christmas party and Seniors Thanksgiving Dinner. Al also held memberships in the Lowell and Dracut Senior Citizen's Club, and was a former member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks and the Lafayette Club in Lowell
He and his wife enjoyed square dancing and were members of both square dancing Partners Club in Pelham, NH and Wheel around dancing at Round Dancing Club. He was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods Resort. Al's greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandsons which included many hours of fishing bowling and playing cards.
Surviving him besides his wife are a daughter and son in law, Darlene V. and Andre AuCoin of Merrimack, NH; a brother and sister in law Roland and Marilyn Thibault of Methuen; four sisters and three brothers in law, Jeannine and Maurice Bergeron of Lowell, Jeannette Desroches of Lowell Pauline and Leo Cloutier of Lowell Viola and Andrew Dussault of Lowell; twin grandsons Marc A. and Shane A. AuCoin of Merrimack, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Lorraine Germain, and brother in law of the late Robert Germain, and Philip Desroches.
