LOWELL – Alice M. (Montminy) Valkavitch, 87, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Joseph J. Valkavitch.
Born in Lowell on December 30, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Aglae (Boisvert) Montminy.
Mrs. Valkavitch was educated in Lowell Schools and was employed by the former Scriptures Laundry on Lawrence Street.
She enjoyed playing bingo and attending the Country Western night at the Pulaski Club on Back Central Street.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Lemieux and her husband Phil of Lowell, Alice Papazian and her husband Paul of Ashland, MaryAnn Harrington of Lowell and Pauline Stannard of Derry, NH; five sons, George Valkavitch and his companion Carol Ayotte, James Valkavitch, Henry Valkavitch and his wife Laura, Michael Valkavitch and his wife Kellie and Robert Valkavitch and his companion Cindy Nadeau, all of Lowell; a son-in-law, Kevin McConnell of Tewksbury, also several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joanne McConnell and Joseph Valkavitch, mother-in-law of the late Peter Stannard, Jr., and sister of the late Louis and George Montminy and Mary Rondeau.
