Alice B. Daigle

September 6, 1913 — November 15, 2010

Alice B. Daigle, 97, a lifelong Dracut resident passed away peacefully Monday, November 15, 2010, following a brief stay at D'Youville Manor.
Born on September 6, 1913, in the Dracut home where she lived for 97 years, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Brouillette) Daigle.
Alice had a long and successful career working for two local businesses. For twenty three years, she was employed in the superintendent's office at Hub Hosiery of Lowell. After leaving Hub Hosiery, Alice would then spend the next twenty five years of her career as an accountant for the former Pellon Corporation. Upon her retirement from Pellon (now Freudenberg Nonwovens), she was awarded a congratulatory trip to Germany, home of the company's corporate headquarters.
In her earlier years Alice enjoyed travelling and devoted much time to caring for her parents. She loved the outdoors, and spent countless days and hours planting flowers and harvesting vegetables in her impressive gardens. She found great joy in her gardening and providing fresh vegetables to many friends and relatives. Any excess produce was brought to her cellar for various types of canning, which she would generously share throughout the winter months.
For years, Alice hosted Sunday gatherings at her home, followed by an afternoon of card playing and board games. She was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and was always present for milestone celebrations and holidays. The time she spent with her family was cherished and will be missed by all. She will be remembered as a strong and independent woman who remained very active well into the later years of her life. She was a devout Catholic and had been a faithful communicant of Ste. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, formerly known as Ste. Therese Parish, since its inception.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Joseph W. Arthur Hall of Dracut; four generations of nieces and nephews including, Kenneth Hall, Carmen (Hall) and Kenneth Bellerose, Arthur J. and Suzanne Hall, Normand Daigle, Roland and Louise Daigle, Joseph and Jeanne Daigle, Richard and Mary Daigle; also, Janet Durso, Pauline Levesque, Priscilla Daigle, Rachel Descoteaux, Joanne Gilbert, Isabelle Poirier, Camille Eno, Albert Jr. , Royal, Donald and Edmund Daigle; also, many cousins including Rev. Leo Maxfield, MS, and Sr. Doris Brouillette, SCO.
She was a sister of the late Joseph, Emile, Beatrice, Albert, Raoul "Dolly," Bernard, Donat "Dan" Daigle, Jeanne (Daigle) Crowley, and Bertha (Daigle) Hall; she is also predeceased by many nieces and nephews, including Denise Hall, her godchild Arthur D. Crowley, Jr., and Constance (Crowley) Desjardins.
