LOWELL - Alice L. (Lessard) Butler passed away on December 23,2018 at the age of 90 while residing at the D'Youville Life and Wellness Community. Born and raised in Lowell Alice lived and raised her family in the Centralville section of Lowell as a member of St. Michael Parish then resided for many years in the Pawtucketville section.Sadly, Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Wliiam F. Butler and recently by her daughter Linda Shaw who unceasingly devoted her time and energy to her mom's well being.
Alice was a graduate of St. Louis Parochial Grammar School and St. Louis Academy.
After retiring from the University of Lowell, Alice led a full life with her many hobbies, which included writing poetry, sewing and gardening. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for her family on all the holidays and their birthdays for which she will always be fondly remembered.
She was a communicant of St. Rita Church and a member of the League of Catholic Women.
Alice is survived by her son, William Butler of Hollywood,Fl; her son-in-law, Kenneth Shaw of Pepperell and his sister, Sister Dianne Shaw,S.N.D. De N. of Lawrence; her grandson, Jameson Ammendolia and his wife Andrea, her granddaughters
Sarah Miller and her husband Geoff of Hollis NH, Jennifer Hunt and her husband Ryan of Pepperell as well as 6 great-grandchildren,Rian, Logan, Lydia, Sylvia, Serena and RJ. She was a sister of the late Paul, Emile and Claire Lessard, Yvonne Blanchard, Pauline Mele, Jeannette Dubois, Cecile Lessard and Therese Hall.
A special thanks to Dianne, Sarah and Jennifer for being there for any and all assistance Alice needed and to the entire staff at D'Youville Life and Wellness Community for the care and comfort Alice was provided.
Alice will be greatly missed by her entire family.
