LOWELL - Alfred "Pete" Lalonde, 94, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at a local health care facility. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice Y. (Langlais) Lalonde.
Born in Lowell on March 19, 1919 he was a son of the late Alfred J. and Lena (Guilbault) Lalonde.
Pete was a self employed finish carpenter by trade.
Al, as known to his fellow Masons, was a very active member of the William Sewall Gardner-Kilwinning Lodge AF & AM and was a master mason for 39 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and the Shriners. He was a recipient of the prestigious Joseph E. Warren Service Medal in 1997.
He was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut, and was a parishioner of the former St. Louis de France Parish in Lowell.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" and Paul Kaknes of Lowell; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cotton and her husband Nick, Natalie Kaknes and Robert J. Lalonde, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Elyssa and Nathan Cotton; a brother, Raymond Lalonde; two sisters, Laurette Daigle and Rita Lalonde; also nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. He was the father of the late Robert J. Lalonde and brother of the late Albert Lalonde and Leona (Lalonde) Bourgea.
