Alfred C. Ilg, 70, of Pelham, NH, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, after being stricken at his home.

The son of the late Oscar E. and Ida C. (Dowrey) Ilg, Al was born in Lowell on January 27, 1939. He was educated in Lowell schools. He was employed at Raytheon and AVCO in the space missile program. He also was associated with the Apollo Space program at Cape Canaveral, FL. Later, he was employed as plant manager at Physical Support Systems in Windham, NH and at the Boston Brace at Children's Medical Center in Boston, from where he retired. He resided in Pelham for the last 49 years. He was a lifetime member of the Centerville United Methodist Church of Lowell. He was an avid softball player for Raytheon, Dracut Civic Club and the Pelham Men's Softball League. He was an avid card player in the cribbage league in Pelham. He also enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling and hunting. He was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol A. (Jozokos) Ilg of Pelham, his loving children; Kathleen Dev and her husband Jai M. Dev of Pelham, Daniel Ilg and his wife Sharon Ilg of Pelham, Christine Miller and her husband Jeffrey Miller, Sr. of Dracut, and Janice Ilg of Pelham; his loving grandchildren, Raam Dev, Meera Bou, Ravi Dev, Eva Ilg, Jeffrey Miller, Jr., Logan Miller, Kyle Miller; and his loving great grandchildren, Autumn Miller and Linkin Bou. He is also survived by his brother, O. Robert Ilg and his wife Josephine of Gilford, NH, his sisters, Eleanor Cunningham of Chelmsford and Ida Annaldo of Lowell, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Robert Oscar Ilg, the late Raymond Ilg and the late Russell Ilg.
