Alfred R. "Nick" Favreau

January 15, 1922 — February 8, 2011

Alfred R. “Nick” Favreau, the beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (Hurley) Favreau, died at his Belvedere residence on Tuesday February 8, 2011.
He was born in Lowell, a son of the late Telesphore and Marie Louise (Beauregard) Favreau.
Nick graduated from St. Louis School at the top of his class. He then graduated from Lowell High School and attended the former Lowell Technological Institute; later he attended the University of Oklahoma for postal inspectors.
Nick was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received while serving with the US Army in Germany during WWII.
He was employed for 35 years with the United States Postal Service in Lowell, retiring as a postal inspector. Nick was honored by the postal service for accruing over 2500 hours in sick leave, as he had never called in sick during his postal career.
Family members recall his passion for sports, and many friends remember him as an exceptional athlete. He was a well-read man. He enjoyed politics, had an appreciation for music and enjoyed tending to his garden in his retirement years.
Nick supported the Oblate community and also the Sisters of St. Joseph. He supported them financially, as well as with his time and talents.
Survivors include a daughter, Sr. Charlene Favreau, CSJ, of Brighton, a faculty member at the Jackson School, Newton; a sister in law, Rita Hurley of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond Favreau, Florence Daigle, Leo Favreau, Evelyn Matte, and Pauline Vaughn.
