Albert L. "Gibby" Guilbeault

July 30, 1923 — January 31, 2016

Pelham, NH – Albert L. "Gibby" Guilbeault, 92, a resident of Pelham for the last three years, residing with his daughter Suzanne, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Georgette D. (Dureault) Guilbeault.
Born in Lowell on July 30, 1923, he was a son of the late Jean Baptiste and Dora (Paquette) Guilbeault.
Gibby was a long time resident of the Centralville section of Lowell where he was an active parishioner of the former St. Louis de France Church. He was a member of the Parish Holy Name Society, volunteered at the Parish Bingo, and helped in many ways for the fundraising of the Parish. He also enjoyed the bowling league at the former St. Louis Circle.
A Navy Veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Bunker Hill, and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 7 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and the Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was a proud member of the St. Louis de France Veteran's Organization as well as the VFW, Walker Roger's Post 662.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 40 years at Fletcher's Granite Quarry in Westford, MA.
He dedicated much time and worked alongside fellow veterans to establish the Centralville Veterans' Memorial Park, honoring Centralville Veteran's who proudly served their country.
Most important to Gibby was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many years, he enjoyed visiting his daughter's home on Thompson Lake in Maine. He also enjoyed his weekend trips; especially visiting the World War II Monument in Washington, DC.
He is survived by three daughters, Constance Cannon of Pelham, NH, Denise Arvidson and her husband William, Sr. of Lowell and Suzanne Fanaras and her husband Timothy of Pelham, NH; four grandchildren, Angela Keef and her husband Chris of Bow, NH, William Arvidson, Jr. and his wife Kaitlynn of Chelmsford, Erik Arvidson of Lowell and Jessica Fanaras of VA; four great grandchildren, Max Keef, twins, Hannah and Nicholas Arvidson and Gabriel Arvidson; also several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a dear friend, Sim Chandonnet of Lowell. He was the brother of the late Raymond Guilbeault, Jeannette Malo, Florence Lussier, Fluerette Guilbeault and Loretta Currier.
