Lowell – Albert O. Goyette, 97, a lifetime Lowell resident from Christian Hill in the Centralville section, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was the loving husband of the late Helen Nora (McCarthy) Goyette with whom he had been married for 65 years.
Born in Lowell on July 31, 1915, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Rosanna (Plomondon) Goyette.
Mr. Goyette was educated in Lowell Schools and served with the United States Army during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Lowell Uniform Company.
Following retirement, he and his wife Helen enjoyed many winters at their home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Al was a truly devoted family man who would entertain his family and friends with countless stories of family history and personal exploits.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Doris of New Smyrna Beach, FL, John and Leslie of Hyannis, James and Patricia of Alton, NH and David and Ellen of Hampstead, NH; a daughter, Regina of Lowell; a sister, Blanche Gadbois of Riverside, CA; 10 grandchildren, William, Susan, Stephen, Jacqueline, Todd, Kevin, Bryan, Scott, Danielle and Rachel; also several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Maryann Chandonnet, and son-in-law Guy Chandonnet.
