Albert J. "Chubby" Gagnon

September 4, 1935 — April 17, 2022

DRACUT - Albert J. "Chubby" Gagnon, Jr., age 86, a longtime Dracut resident passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine B. (Coutu) Gagnon, to whom he has been married for 64 years.

He was born in Chelmsford on September 4, 1935, and was a son of the late Albert J. Gagnon, Sr. and the late Corrine (Loiselle) Gagnon.

Prior to his honorable discharge as a Military Police Officer in 1957, Albert proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.

He was the founder and owner for many years of Gagnon Heavy Equipment Restoration in Dracut. He also spent many years as a transporter for Dunigan Motor Sports for the ISMA Racing Series.

He was an avid deer hunter and he enjoyed gardening and farming. His greatest joy however, was being in the company of his loving family, especially at family cookouts.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children, Darlene L. Callery and her husband Paul of Nashua, NH, Albert J. Gagnon, III of Pelham, NH, Lynn M. Gagnon of Dracut, Brian M. Gagnon, Sr. and his wife Michelle of Dracut, and Darrin J. Gagnon, Sr. and his wife Patricia of Hudson, NH; thirteen grandchildren, William Cole, Paul Callery, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Larissa Callery and ​her fiancé Richard Bailey, all of Nashua, NH, Albert J. Gagnon, IV and his wife Jessica Gagnon of Hudson, NH, Cody Gagnon of Manchester, NH, Jessie Gagnon of Pelham, NH, and Brandie Gagnon of Pelham, NH, Capt. Brian M. Gagnon, Jr., USAF and his wife Kali Gagnon, MD of Nebraska, 2nd Lt. Brandon Gagnon, USNG of Florida, Anthony Catenacci and his wife Kaitlin of New Jersey, Eric Catenacci of Dracut, and Darrin J. Gagnon, Jr. and Kaelyn Gagnon, both of Hudson, NH; six great grandchildren, William Cole, John Cole, Jenelle Gagnon, Albert J. Gagnon, V, Jana Gagnon, and Avia Gagnon; five brothers and sisters, Jean Kendall of Windham, NH, Robert Gagnon of Florida, Gerald Gagnon of Windham, NH, Diane Gormley of Glendale, AZ and Denis Gagnon of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was also the brother of the late Shirley Lagasse, Harvey Gagnon, Donald Gagnon, and Doris Crider.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Albert's Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00am at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Church in Dracut. Burial in Gibson Cemetery in Pelham, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert's memory to the Disabled American Veterans, State House, Room 546, Boston, MA 02133 or a www.davma.org.
