Adelard J. Gagnon

Rev. Adelard J. Gagnon, Jr., 80, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his Chelmsford residence.
Born in Lowell on March 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Adelard J. Gagnon, Sr. and Alida (Theriault) Gagnon.
Father Gagnon attended St. Louis Parochial School, College de L'Assomption in Canada and St. John Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on February 2, 1956. From 1956 to 1976 he served the following parishes: Sacred Heart in Brockton, Saint Joseph in Salem, Saint Anthony in Shirley, Sacred Heart in Amesbury and Saint Joseph in Medford. He was Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in E. Boston from 1977 until his retirement in 2000. Following his retirement, he served the residents of the two assisted living communities where he resided in Chelmsford.
He was a talented artist and a lover of animals.
His survivors include nieces and nephews, Priscilla Lanigan and her husband Douglas Horka of Worcester, Colette Lemire and her husband David Faucher of Leominster, Russell Lemire and his wife Jennie of Rochester, MN, Kathryn MacDonald and her husband Terrence of Reading. He also leaves four grandnieces He was predeceased by his sister L. Therese Lemire of Chelmsford.
